If you’re doing exceptional work

I’m presently listening to Brian Storm, my former MSNBC colleague and now multimedia storytelling visionary through his NYC-based production company, Media Storm.  We’re both presenting at the Visual Journalism Bootcamp on Whidbey Island in Washington.

He does powerful work — we just watched an excerpt from Unintended Consequences — the children born of rape after the Rwanda Genocide in 1994.

We’re all here to inspire journalists to keep going, to keep creating, to see the opportunities.  Brian’s takeaways:

– Do exceptional work.

– Create a franchise (use Amazon, iTunes, publish books).

– Build social credibility on MySpace (there are tons of people still there), Facebook, Twitter.
