Kayaking, crabbing and correcting: my Hero’s Journey?

I’ve been trying to get out on my kayak this summer. But I’ve spent the last two weeks completing the mammoth final section to Storyteller Uprising. It’s a standalone piece, tentatively titled The Storyteller’s Seven Hard Truths to Manipulation in a Networked World (coming soon!).

I finally went out this morning after putting the finishing corrections on the final draft, heroically overcoming the low tide and paddling around the point. Then I ran into my friend Scott, who was crabbing for the first time this season, so I rowed out with him to check his traps. It’s part of my cunning annual crabbing strategy: wait until friends and neighbors get so sick of crab that they start giving away what they’ve got left in their freezers.
