I had a great time interviewing writer Greg Bear and Seattle Schools’ interim superintendent Susan Enfield. The Pacific Science Center was the perfect setting for a conversation that covered Steve Jobs on creativity and technology, whether we need to turn STEM into STEAM by injecting “Arts” into the Science Technology Engineering Mantra, and what the Pacific Northwest needs to stay curious and competitive. We also happened to film the show close to my three year-old daughter’s favorite exhibit: the human fly. So it was somewhat fitting that Greg swallowed a fly during mid-soundbite, and kept going! We also added to Susan’s office duck collection with a classic yellow one. Despite her very serious job, she strongly believes being surrounded by childlike wonder.
